Pigment or Organism Name: Bacteriochlorophyll b Type: biological pigment Medium Type: whole cell Description: In vivo absorbance spectrum of BChl b combined with carotenoids of unspecified type and amount x-axis label: wavelength x-axis units: nm y-axis label: absorbance y-axis units: relative error label: nil error units: nil Source/Contact: Richard Cogdell and Andrew Gall Reference: ROBERT, B., COGDELL, R. J. & VAN GRONDELLE, R. (2003). The Light-harvesting system of purple bacteria. In Light-harvesting Antennas in Photosynthesis, vol. 13. Adv. Photosynth. (ed. B. B. Green and W. W. Parson), pp. 169-194. Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht. Comments: In vivo absorbance spectra collected from whole cell Blastochloris viridis from 400nm to 1100nm. Local peaks at 800 and 850nm. A Lambda 35 spectrometer (Perkin Elmer) was used. Bchl occurs in the Reaction Center (RC) and the LHI and LHII (core and peripheral antenna complexes respectively) of B. viridis. NOTE however, that B. viridis lacks an LHII complex. Keywords: Blastochloris viridis, bacteriochlorophyll b, in vivo Datafile name: BChlb_Cogdell_2003_vivo_spec.csv
