Takeda. Phytochemistry: Structure of the blue cornflower pigment. Nature 436, 791 (August 2005). Takeda, K., A. Osakabe, S. Saito, D. Furuyama, A. Tomita, Y. Kojima, M. Yamadera and M. Sakuta (2005). "Components of protocyanin, a blue pigment from the blue flowers of Centaurea cyanus." Phytochemistry 66(13): 1607-1613. Comments: In vitro absorbance UV-Vis spectrum of protocyanin was measured after protocyanin was dissolved in 0.05M acetate buffer of pH 4.80. UVŠVis and CD spectra were measured with a JASCO J-820 spectrometer, and Vis spectra with a Shimazu UV-160A spectrometer. Blue color, main absorbance peak at 575nm, broader absorption from 200 - 360nm. Keywords: protocyanin, anthocyanin, plants, flowers Datafile name: Protocynanin_Takeda_2005.csv
